Twisties – What has happened? – Smiths have a lot of Questions to answer.

I used to enjoy the odd pack of Twisties every now and then.

So I thought I had a dud pack earlier this year, and decided not to buy another until a few months had passed.

What has happened to Twisties? - Smiths have a lot of Questions to answer.
Improved Taste Twisties?

WOW… Was I wrong, Smiths have definitely gone down the path of DON’T BUY THIS RUBBISH.

The  New Improved Junk, they call twisties, is a total waste of money. The Original Cheesy taste is gone, the new smooth tasteless texture they are trying to get us to buy, is nothing like the Original product, and tastes of chemicals.

Now bear in mind, Twisties have been around since 1950, and first created by the General Foods Corporation.

I personally think Smiths should remove the name Twisties from the pack, and call it “New Improved Plastic Taste” or “Chemical Residual Mistake”

Now come on, how can a product that has been successful in the marketplace for many years, suddenly need to be — RE-INVENTED –.

The Smiths Taste Testers should be sacked, and the SEO who must think us, the Consumers are dim witted fool’s who will buy whatever junk they wish to produce. Oh, and yes I know Frito-Lay took over Smiths in August 1998.

But who Owns Frito-Lay?

Its quite an interesting trail to follow, and eventually finishes up at PepsiCo.
Pop over to Wikipedia to read the full history if your interested.

So after all of this who ha, Who Do I Complain Too?

AND More Importantly: Who Will Listen?
My own personal solution is simply Not To Buy Smith Twisties again.

Your Personal thoughts: On what was once a Great Australian Product, now destroyed by overseas owners, would be greatly appreciated. So pop a Comment Below, and let the world know we don’t like the New Improved Tasteless Product, and want the Original Brought Back.

Now Surely that’s not too much to ask for, Or is it PepsiCo?

My Dealings with getting a Magazine Subscription, through MagStore

If you want to get your Blood Boiling, then you should deal with this crowd.

I subscribe to a Caravan Magazine, and always use Magstore, as the place to buy my online subscription from, generally the transactions go quite smoothly, and with any bonus items they include, are dispatched without any problems.

Magstore Website

WELL! You guessed it, Things are not going as expected at the moment.

Nearly a month has passed, and still no bonus product arrived at my place. (On a bright note, the 1st magazine has arrived)
I did the right thing, and emailed magstore customer service, NO RESPONSE after waiting 4 Days.
So I decided to call them directly, using the 1800 number provided on their website.

It seems they must be having lots of problems at the time.

I had difficulty getting a line through to them (Constantly engaged) and when I did finally get my call to connect, I was placed back in a Que and forgotten.

OKAY: Time for a Deep Breath or two, and listen to some background noise on the phone.
After a few minutes I Finally got to talk to someone, but for only a few seconds, the moment I mentioned I had a problem, and offered my Invoice number. I was PUT BACK ON HOLD. (It seems the girl I spoke to, didn’t want to know me.)

All I wanted was a time frame for delivery, so I can make sure someone will be around to be able to take delivery.

So Now Out Of Frustration: I have put together this short rant, to let others know if things go wrong with your magazine subscription with Magstore, you are in for a hard time getting any reconciliation from them.

So now trying a different kind of approach:  I sent another email, this time direct to the magazine publisher, in the hope that they will get an answer for me.

Jazmin, one of the journalists got back within an hour of me contacting the publisher, and passed my details onto the head of customer service. I now will wait to see what happens next.

P.S. I ALWAYS Use PAYPAL in these sorts of transactions, its a bit of a guarantee in case you need to open a dispute.

Happy Ending:
Today: August 22nd I finally got the missing Cup Holders (Nearly two month have passed, from my initial order.)

Moral of the Story:
Don’t accept being ignored, no matter how small the amount.

My Experience with Online Overseas Shopping V’s Local Products

Online Overseas Shopping V’s Local Products

I thought I’d be smart, and buy a few things online locally, thinking that the delivery times would be much faster, compared to the shopping overseas using cheaper competitors.

Here are my findings.

I bought two items located in Melbourne Australia, One direct from a retail store, and the other via ebay.

  • The retail store is located approx 36 kilometres from my home, OVER THREE WEEKS have now gone by, and still nothing, also non existent email customer service. Item Cost: AU $124.50
What really annoys me most, is the fact they are a prominent Australian retail outlet, with a strong online presence.
  • Melbourne Ebay store, Fast Postage, Fast Communications, although No Tracking supplied, 5 days to delivery (Weekend included in time needed for delivery). (I Will deal with them again.) Item Cost: AU $88.50

Next Australian Items I bought, both were located in Sydney

I bought two items located in Sydney from the online offerings of Ebay.

  • First store was as expected, Fast to Post (Same Day), and excellent communications, complete with full Australia Post tracking of my parcel. (I have dealt with them before, and will again in the future) Item Cost: AU $21.95
  • Second store, Not So Good, took 5 days to get my item ready to post, unknown delivery time, NO POSTAL TRACKING, even though I paid for it. Item Cost: AU $8.99 + AU $3.50 postage

Next Australian Ebay Item I bought was located in South Australia

  • This online ebay store, gave no postage choices on checkout. So I was surprised to see they supplied me with a tracking number. My camera lens arrived 9 days after my weekend order was placed, it was well packaged and not a bad product for the price, So as you can imagine, I will be dealing with this company again. Item Cost: AU $19.95

    • Postal details below:

Now to Ebay Stores located in China.

I purchased another camera lens the same day as my South Australia purchase.

  • This ebay store gave my the choice of tracking and expedited postal service, So I opted to pay the extra. Three weeks have gone by with item awaiting packaging, according to HK tracking ID supplied. I contacted the seller, who said item was already posted. Miraculously the Supplied Tracking Number on the same day suddenly jumped  to say the Item has been Received by overseas carrier. H’mmm Wonders will never cease. Item Cost: AU $23.95 + AU $3.50 postage
    Paid 2nd July
Posted 5th July (No they didn’t) Real Postal date 19th July

And now onto the last item on my list from China.

  • I bought a camera Monopod from a different Chinese store, Fast Postage, (Next Day, with full Toll Tracking number) Amazingly fast service. I have popped a snippet from the transport company website, to show you just how fast they are.) AND THIS WAS THE CHEAPEST JY0506 Aluminum Monopod I could find, coming in at AU $153.28

My Personal Conclusion:

You defiantly Don’t Get What You Pay For, when it comes to handling and shipping costs.

The level of service offered by current online stores, swings wildly, with the CHEAPEST EBAY STORES, WINNING HANDS DOWN. Both in Australia, and China.

Well, that’s my personal findings so far.
